Driving on Bali

Driving in Bali. Is it okay? Ten years ago you would probably answer, I am not sure!. But since the last 10 years a lot is changed. The Indonesian government invested a lot in better roads. The old smoking cars are gone and new cars did take over. But the most important is the working of Google Maps. This is improved the last 5 years and is now a 100% reliable help to find your way on the island without problems.

What do I need?

For driving in Indonesia as a tourist  you need an international drivers license. Please provide before you travel in your country of residence.
For motorbikes you need a motorbike license. The average cc of motorbikes in Indonesia is higher than scooters in most of the countries. Driving without motorbike drivers license will block medical insurances incase of an accident.

How is traffic

You will drive on the left side of the road. The rules are simple. There are almost no rules and it is adapting to the traffic. The general speed is low about average of 35 km per hour. This makes it more easy to coordinate and anticipate to situations.
Traffic in Bali sometimes, especially in the south can be hectic. Google maps will help you avoid busy parts and all our trips are taken you to more remote area’s. Sa soon as you leave your hotel in the south you will find empty roads.
